About

Our Thesis

Academia and publishing are full of groundbreaking ideas—but too often, those ideas stay siloed, locked behind paywalls, or buried in another publicist’s pile.

As traditional institutions fall short on visibility and career support, Punctuation PR bridges the gap—helping writers and scholars build public presence, connect with real audiences, and turn their work into lasting influence.

We work independently or in conjunction with your pre-existing marketing team to achieve your goals.

Who We Are

Punctuation PR is the premier publicity and marketing agency for the next generation of public intellectuals.

Our team understands the world your work comes from—because we come from it, too. We bridge the gap between the academy, publishing, and the digital stage, helping you step into the spotlight with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Punctuation PR is proud to be based in Los Angeles, California, and work with writers and thinkers across the country.

What We Believe

Knowledge should be public.

We believe ideas don’t belong in silos. The best scholarship can—and should—influence how we think, feel, and act in the world. We bridge the gap between good work and the right people.

Ideas shape culture.

Culture doesn’t just happen—it’s created, challenged, and reimagined by the ideas we share. We elevate new ideas and engage deeply with the cultural moment.

What you say matters.

Language carries power. How you communicate your ideas determines who hears them—and what they do next. We help you say it clearly, credibly, and memorably.

Meet the Founder

Ellen Yang founded Punctuation PR with a simple belief: great ideas deserve great audiences.

Ellen brings a decade of experience in media, marketing, and communications, including leading national public service campaigns and developing viral content for tech startups and popular brands. Her work has driven over one billion views and helped some of the most exciting minds working today connect with their audiences in lasting, meaningful ways.

She holds a B.A.H. in English and a B.A. in Linguistics from Stanford University, where she studied the power of language—how it shapes thought, identity, and public discourse. That foundation continues to inform her approach: humanistic, strategic, and always rooted in the belief that thoughtful communication can change what—and who—the world pays attention to.
