Cynthia W. Gentry

Meet Cynthia

Cynthia W. Gentry is the author of seven nonfiction books on sexuality and relationships, with work translated into French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. She has been interviewed by publications including Glamour and Cosmopolitan as an expert voice on sex and relationships. Her fiction and journalism have appeared in Area i, The Montserrat Review, and Reed Magazine, as well as in magazines such as Budget Savvy. She has covered major film festivals for IndieWire and written for the Literary Arts section of SFStation.

Cynthia holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was awarded the Edna Kinard Prize, the Alfred & Ruth Thompson Perassolo Scholarship, and a Regent’s Fellowship. She earned her BA in English with departmental honors from Stanford University.

Her debut novel, HER LIFE IN RUINS, is the inaugural title of Abrams’ new adult fiction imprint, akaStory, and will be published in January 2027. She lives in California.
